Kindness Ideas

Remember to leave the smile card … we want this movement to carry forward.

· Visit hospitals with smiles, treats and friendly conversation for patients

· Buy a lottery ticket, put it in an envelope with a smile card and put it under a strangers wiper on their car.

· Ask your local police department to give out “kindness citations” instead of parking tickets

· Leave a muffin or handmade note of thanks for your garbage collection person or newspaper delivery person

· Help people load their groceries into their cars or, if it’s raining, hold their umbrella

· Participate in the Kindness Ribbon program

· Donate clothes to a shelter

· Donate to a charity

· Buy lunch for a homeless person

· Plant some wildflowers along the roadside. Plant a tree.

· Pick up trash or pull some weeds in your neighborhood

· Give another driver your parking spot

· Hold a random acts of kindness party, where everyone shares stories

· Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about random kindness and your own experiences

· Give family and friends “kindness coupons” they can cash-in for special favors

· Write a thank-you note to a person from past whom has made a difference in your life

· Visit a retirement or nursing home and spend the afternoon talking with the residents

· Drop off a plant, flowers or apple pie at the police department or neighbors house

· Give out random acts of kindness buttons, ribbons, cards and books

· Take a minute to think about what random kindness means

· Be a kindness harbinger in everything you do - spread the word!

· Help someone move

· Donate your old prescription glasses. Many churches and other organizations collect them for the less fortunate.

· Volunteer at the local food bank

· Drop off some food at the food bank

· Offer to drive someone

· Cut someone’s lawn

· Shovel snow for a neighbor

· Return neighbors garbage container off of the street

· Pay for someone’s coffee or lunch in a drive thru behind you - remember the smile card encouraging them to pay it forward.

· Do free automotive repairs for single parents
